Not all gaming chairs are created equal when it comes to comfort and durability.If you’re shopping for a new chair for your home office or gaming space, the old adage “you get what you pay for” definitely holds true.Luckily, the new Kaiser 3 from AndaSeat has heavy-duty construction for stability in everyday use, while still providing plenty of support to keep you comfortable while you work or play.It’s also quite expensive, but if you’re looking for a chair that will stand the test of time, it’s well worth the investment.
The AndaSeat Kaiser 3 can be purchased from the brand’s official website for $549.While it’s not yet available to buy outside the US, it’s safe to assume it’s priced similarly in the UK and Canada, and probably closer to $700 in Australia.The gaming chair costs a lot, but it’s also on the same level as the market’s most popular “luxury” gaming chairs, the Secretlab Titan Evo ($519) and Noblechairs HERO ($459.99).Honestly, after a few weeks of use, the AndaSeat Kaiser 3 is worth the money.
I was impressed with the way the Kaiser 3 was packaged.Each part and fastener box is neatly placed and fitted together to efficiently use box space and prevent damage during shipping.There’s also plenty of cushioning foam and plastic coverings for added stability and protection from dust and scratches during transport.Luckily, almost all packaging is recyclable, though you should check with your local recycling center to see if they use foam padding.
The instruction manual is large and easy to read, and it is available in several different languages, including Spanish, French, German, Simplified Chinese, and Arabic.Each section is clearly marked in the image, and the instructions are written simply, which makes matching faster and easier.It even comes with a hex key for tightening the screws, so you don’t need to worry about having a toolbox handy when you’re ready to put the chair together.I appreciate that the screws, washers and safety caps come in a shrink wrap seal so nothing gets lost as I work on the different parts of the chair assembly.
The assembly process itself was pretty straightforward once I confirmed that all the parts and fasteners were in good condition and were actually in the box.It took me about half an hour to put the Kaiser 3 together and I only had a few minor issues.First, the cover panels of the seat back assemblies are not significantly different from each other, but either can only be properly installed on the side they are designated for.It took a few minutes to mess up everything, but it wasn’t a huge frustration.Second, the thick foam pads can get in the way of properly aligning the screw holes.I had some trouble aligning one of the seat back’s screw holes with where it mates in order to accept the fasteners, but using a pen quick hinge solved the problem.
The Kaiser 3 has some really nifty ergonomic features built into the seat back.There are two knobs, one on each side, for adjusting the internal lumbar support structure; you can use the knob on the right to adjust the support back and forth, while the knob on the left moves the support up and down.I do wish the knobs were labeled or color-coded to make it easier to remember which did what, but after a while you can remember what the controls do.Having lumbar support built into the seat back is a nice touch in my opinion.Separate lumbar pads are nice because they help relieve lower back tension, but they can be uncomfortable in some gaming chair models because they bunch up and don’t stay in place, or are annoying to use The straps hold them where you need them.The internal structure eliminates all of these issues, so you can get the support you need, where you need it, quickly.
The memory foam head and neck pillow uses magnets to attach to the upper part of the seat back and can be easily adjusted and removed when not needed.My only complaint with the pillow is that the area it can attach to is a bit small, so it took a few tries to get it just right.But once the pillow is in place, it stays exactly where you need it, so you don’t have to worry about constantly adjusting the neck pad to stay comfortable and get the proper support you need.
The armrests have the greatest range of motion I’ve ever seen on an office chair.As well as being able to lift up and down, there are buttons that release the locks, allowing you to tilt them in or out, as well as slide them forward, back and sideways, if you’re a bigger person, This gives you more room to find the best position for your arms when leaning against the chair.The armrests also feature bolts that attach to the bottom of the seat, and when loosened, you can move the entire armrest assembly in or out with greater comfort and space flexibility.
The seat and back have thick, firm foam padding that is both firm and unyielding.The seat and back cushions have not flattened or changed in any way after 8 to 10 hours of daily use, meaning the Kaiser 3 will likely continue to provide the same level of comfort and support. In fact, your hips, spine and shoulders for a long time.The cushioning also covers the heavy-duty steel frame nicely, which gives the Kaiser 3 its durability and strength.At no point did I feel like I was being stabbed by a hidden bar or bolt in the upright and fully reclined position.
The armrest covers are also made of firm foam on the plastic frame, which makes them slightly elastic, which is nice when I need to lean on them or raise my cat over them from under a chair or under my desk .The smooth surface of the armrest covers makes them easy to keep clean with damp cloths, baby wipes or disinfectant wipes as there is no woven upholstery that could get dirty or pick up on dirt and pet hair.
The model I was sent for review has a premium PVC faux leather interior, and my thighs really appreciate the matte finish as it doesn’t make my skin stick and pull uncomfortable in warm, muggy weather.The faux leather is also easy to keep clean, which is something I worry about a lot since I have two cats and two dogs who like to curl up in my office chair when I get up to refill my coffee or check my mail.
A lint roller is enough to handle any pet hair and crumbs from keeping animals on your desk or eating lunch, while baby wipes or damp soapy towels are great for removing dirt, grease and spills.The neck pad has a soft cloth cover that zips open and can be removed if you need to toss it in the washing machine, if needed I recommend cleaning the pillow itself with a damp soapy cloth as the magnet plate is permanently attached on it.
The wheelbase has 5 casters and is made of cast aluminium, giving the chair a heavier base to prevent it from tipping over easily when you move in the seat, recline or release the reclining lock.Casters move smoothly on hard floors and carpets, making it easy to navigate your playroom or office without leaving the chair.The height-adjustment and tilt-lock levers are located under the seat for easy access, with textured handles for better grip.It can be a little finicky when trying to release the tilt-lock lever, but you don’t need to tighten it; just make sure you’re centered on the chair and don’t put too much pressure on the lever itself, and the tilt-lock will release without issue.
I’m not exaggerating when I say the Kaiser 3 is the most comfortable office or gaming chair I’ve ever used.The extra-thick foam padding in the seat and back is firm enough to support your hips and spine without feeling like you’re sitting on a pile of rocks.Frankly, the magnetic neck pillow is genius.It eliminates the need for adjustable shoulder straps that are not only confusing but uncomfortable to sit on.There is a small area on the headrest where the pillow actually attaches to the headrest with magnets, so if you need it to stay firmly in place while you work, you can only place the cushion near your head, neck and upper shoulders or game.While it can be used as an extra lumbar pad or mid-back support, it won’t stay put when you leave the chair.
The foam also doesn’t break down or flatten over time like some office and gaming chairs.I usually work anywhere from 8 to 10 hours on weekdays, then most weekends have about 5 to 6 hours playing games and watching movies with friends.At no point during the day did I find the Kaiser 3 much fun to use.Once I adjusted everything to my liking, my ex-bodybuilder’s spine and hips finally had enough support to stop pain after hours of meetings and research or meeting up with friends via Discord movie night.
The absolute adjustability of the chair means you can very well customise the Kaiser 3 to your body.Not only do the armrests slide forward, backward and side to side, you can also rotate them in and out and set their height.There are even screws on the bottom of the chair, and when loosened, you can further adjust the armrest width if you are a larger person and need more seating space.
The backrest reclines almost 180 degrees, perfect for some tabletop stretching during the workday or while waiting for the gaming hall to be ready.If you want the comfort of watching a movie with friends in Discord or sleeping in a 36-hour Twitch subathon, lying down is almost enough.I do wish there was a small integrated footrest that folded under the seat out of the way, similar to how the Respawn 110 was designed.However, if you really want luxury and relaxation in your chair, AndaSeat does have a separate footrest that you can buy.
If you don’t want to recline, but still want more room to stretch, you can release the reclining lock and let the chair recline back like a rocking chair.I usually prefer to attach the tilt lock to office and gaming chairs, so I don’t feel like I’m trying a mechanical bull in a bar, but the Kaiser 3′s tilt isn’t as dramatic as all of these, so it’s nice when I’m Sit back and stretch or take a break when you’re working on a tough article or between games in Apex Legends.
I think part of what makes the Kaiser 3 able to withstand anything you throw at it is the magnetic system AndaSeat created for it.Not only are the neck pads magnetic, but the armrest covers are also magnetic.That means you can swap them out if they’re worn, damaged, or if you just want a bit of color; so instead of spending another $549 to replace the entire chair, you’ll only pay a fraction of that to replace the armrest covers.
AndaSeat also plans to release a magnetic desktop attachment for the Kaiser 3, so you can turn the chair into a mobile workstation or gaming table.It will have a built-in smartphone/tablet stand so you can stream videos and music while you work, set up your mobile device for virtual meetings and video calls, or get better control and stability while playing mobile games sex.It also has two metal tabs on the back edge to help keep your work or gaming laptop in place while you’re using it.
The tabletop accessory will use the same replaceable magnetic system as the armrest, allowing you to quickly change it out when you no longer need it, and slide it back and forth for quick adjustments to give yourself more room when sitting or pulling your laptop closer for more comfortable use.The tabletop will also be available in a variety of different colors, so you can match the decor and RGB lighting setup of your gaming space, show off your personal style, or blend into a more professional space.Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing for the table top or armrest covers, but with the prices AndaSeat offers for replacement parts, I’d expect to pay at least $50 for the armrest and $100 or more for the table.
The fact that AndaSeat offers replacement parts through their website is another reason why I think the Kaiser 3 is worth the money.Customers can purchase replacement wheelbases, tilt mechanisms, armrest assemblies and gas pistons.I’m a sucker for product life planning and being able to repair the Kaiser 3 myself is a big plus for me.This shows that AndaSeat cares about its products and customers, and has confidence in the quality of the chairs.
They also have great social media and customer service, so if you need to fix a problem, replace a part, or return a faulty chair, it should be a pretty straightforward process.They also have a page dedicated to ordering someone to assemble the Kaiser 3 for you if you don’t feel comfortable doing that or don’t have the time.
I mentioned earlier that AndaSeat offers a separate footrest if you want to lie down completely in the Kaiser 3.The luxury ottoman (yes, that’s what it’s actually called) looks like AndaSeat takes some extra chair seats and puts them on the wheelbase, which also makes the ottoman a makeshift seat if needed, and can be used when you It is easier to match the height of the chair when you want to stretch.
