Even though Mavix has only been around since November 2020, it has earned a good reputation in the gaming community for its sleek, adjustable, and most importantly, comfortable gaming chairs. I had the opportunity to try out their Mavix M5 and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. The M5 is excellent in almost every way, managing to combine style, function and premium materials in an incredible chair that, despite its high price tag, easily lives up to Mavix’s reputation for excellence.
The Mavix M5 is less flashy and more office chair-like than many chairs on the market today, so I immediately liked it. Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a design hit – with a more ergonomic look, the Mavix M5 instantly looks and feels familiar, and is also quickly recognized for using better materials than the average office chair. The seat and back of the M5 are covered in durable Mavix mesh, as well as Mavix PU for Dynamic Adjustable Lumbar Support (DVL) and neck support for durability.
Despite its simple appearance, the Mavix M5 is surprisingly easy to set up with a comfortable and adjustable head support, a secure fit with a pleasant click when you change the back height, and DVL support that adapts to your movements. Movement adjusts to provide optimal comfort at all times, breathable mesh seat surface stays cool, popular adjustable seat depth allows seat to slide out to the best position, impressive tension tilt, no slide-to-lock wheels, comfortable 2-way adjustable armrests and secure infinity lock. position tilt.
Even aside from all the seat settings, the M5 is comfortable. Mesh and faux leather are cool and comfortable. As for the seat, I prefer mesh to polyurethane and I’m glad Mavix chose to use polyurethane only for certain comfort areas, such as the neck and DVL support, rather than the entire chair. Polyurethane, while durable, wears out faster than mesh and is prone to tearing and tearing from animals or other hazards, while mesh appears virtually indestructible and should easily withstand most everyday hazards and animals. The M5 blends the two materials well, providing proper support in almost every area, allowing you to play games or work for hours without pain.
The sturdy five-point base provides locking for casters or M wheels. I have two wheels and I find either one is fine for home use, but if you plan to roll the chair in multiple rooms, you might want to choose M wheels as they provide somewhat more smooth movement, but I didn’t have any problems. hardwood or carpet with plastic coated rollers, these seem to work fine for most.
The benefit of all Mavix chairs is their dynamically adjustable wood or DVL support that is as comfortable as advertised. The DVL is partially covered in artificial leather and can be adjusted with the backrest to be placed at the optimal height for back support. The DVL has a slight flex that adapts well to the user’s movements while sitting, providing support no matter how you relax. Combined with a sturdy backrest that locks accurately into a variety of height settings up to 53.5 inches, the DVL support and mesh backrest combine to create a relaxed seating experience.
The mesh back houses a PU-coated headrest that is cool to the touch and reclines to precisely support the curvature of your neck, providing a comfortable headrest whether you’re sitting or lying down. Speaking of tilt, the M5 is capable of a 105 degree arc tilt with a maximum tilt of 135 degrees and locks securely into place with the Mavix Infinite Position Lock mechanism. I was amazed at how far this chair could recline, and purely from the looks of it, I wasn’t expecting much if there were any recline options. The flip is easy to install and lock without worrying about the lock slipping out of place.
The last two available adjustments, armrest and seat depth, help further enhance the user’s seating experience while gaming. The bi-directionally adjustable armrests can be raised and lowered with buttons on each side, as well as rotated in and out, providing the user with multiple comfort options. The depth of the seat is adjusted using a small lever under the chair, which allows the seat to smoothly slide off or press against the backrest, providing additional support for users of different heights.
The seat is 20.5 inches wide, but you can sit up to 23 inches off the ground. I have found the height of the chair to be a good fit for both me and my wife, although we are slightly different heights. The 48-pound chair isn’t light, but it’s also not overly heavy if you have to carry it around, but I doubt most people would want to roll the chair around the house. The 4-stage heavy duty cylinders help the chair slide up and down easily as needed and are strong enough to extend the life of the chair. When it comes to the durability of chairs, Mavix is so confident in their products that they give all of their chairs a 12-year warranty, giving peace of mind to those who are worried about buying such an expensive chair.
Now that I have a chair, I have to dig into Elemax. While Elemax is not included in the base M5 package, I highly recommend it as an add-on as it provides the heating, cooling and massage functions of the base chair and can be installed in seconds.
The Elemax fits snugly on the back of the DVL mount and comes with a plastic piece that can be attached to cover the Elemax function buttons. To assemble, just insert the Elemax into an empty space and fix it on the cover (for reference, see the photo above). Elemax can be charged via USB with enough battery power to last 7 full heat cycles. Users can leave their seat plugged in for uninterrupted Elemax use, or charge the battery and remove the hook for increased mobility.
Elemax has three defining characteristics: heating, cooling and massage. Cooling is handled by dual fans that flash and cool the DVL mount at the touch of a button, lowering body temperature along the lower back curvature for longer gaming sessions. Or, on colder nights, you can turn on the heat to heat up the DVL brace and warm your lower back in 15-minute intervals to a maximum temperature of 131 degrees Fahrenheit. The heating and cooling functions can be used together with the massage function, which has two settings: variable or constant. An alternating massage sends out pulsating waves about once per second, while a continuous massage is a steady stream of vibrations. For each setting, you can also switch between low or high intensity, which is much stronger than I expected from such a small addition. The Elemax alone has a 3-year warranty and retails for around $159.99.
While the Mavix M5 is comfortable on its own, the Elemax really adds style to the chair, making it a must-buy. I was very impressed with this chair before I discovered Elemax but after it was added I was completely sold out and found myself sitting in the chair randomly all day just to test its various features and marvel at how well it works. My only gripe with the Elemax is that it’s a bit awkward to operate while sitting in a chair as the controls are at the back and out of sight. However, with a bit of fiddling behind your back, you will find the right setting, it’s like jumping out of your chair for a second to set it up, so it’s not a deal breaker, it’s just that some people might have complaints. To be honest, I’d rather get up from my chair to change settings than attach a bulky remote to an Elemax to save a few seconds on the move.
The Mavix M5 is an engineering marvel offering a versatile, comfortable and multi-functional chair that easily adapts to almost any body type. Perfect for mini-games or hours of play, the M5 stays comfortable with durable mesh, cooling PU, adjustable back/headrest/armrests, reclining capability and seat depth adjustment. While some might pass up the rather high asking price of $555.55, it’s good to know that this chair comes with an excellent 12-year warranty. The Mavix M5 combined with the Elemax device makes for one of the best gaming chairs on the market.
